HEDGEHOG VALLEY POLICIES
Our Policies: REFUNDS/EXCHANGES: Purchasing a pet is a decision that should not be undertaken lightly so we do not offer refunds. Should the purchaser find within 14 days of the purchase date that the individual hedgehog is not acceptable for any reason, we will exchange for a comparable hedgehog as soon as one is available. This exchange does not include the price of transportation/shipping. If at any time you are no longer able to care for your hedgehog, for whatever reason, we will accept that hedgehog back. We do not offer any financial compensation or charge any additional fees for this service. If you find that you are having difficulty with your hedgehog's temperament in adjusting to your home, you must let us know right away. We will work with you to help you and your hedgehog adjust to one another. HEALTH: We guarantee that we are selling you a hedgehog that is, to our knowledge, in good health. All baby hedgehogs are guaranteed to be free from congenital problems until age six months. If something happens to the hedgehog before the age of six months that stems from a congenital problem of any kind, we will replace the animal at no charge if given a necropsy report from a licensed veterinarian stating that the nature of the problem. While we take care to ensure the quality of our lines, no breeder can 100% guarantee that problems will never arise. Breeders who claim that their animals will never get WHS or cancer are ill informed. Our replacement policy does not include loss due to accident, negligence, or any treatable or communicable illness. It does not include the price of shipping the replacement animal, should that be necessary. Hedgehogs over six months of age do not carry a health guarantee, but may be returned within one week from the date of sale for trade for a comparable animal or a full refund if a veterinarian finds that the animal has any unknown health problem that was likely to have originated prior to purchase. REFERENCES: If you would like to talk to other people who have obtained hedgehogs from us and/or who have visited our facility, please contact the breeders that we have worked with and check the feedback on our FaceBook page. PAYMENT: We can accept payment in the form of paypal, cash, or credit cards via square. We DO NOT TAKE PERSONAL CHECKS due to the alarming frequency with which people have bounced them on us. Payment in full must be received within 7 days of our sending you the confirmation email in response to your reservation. If it is not received by that date, your reservation will be cancelled. It is your responsibility to send payment in a timely manner if you do not want your reservation cancelled. We do not have to notify you that your reservation is expiring, but we generally try to do so. RESERVATIONS: Babies are first come, first serve. If we do not have what you are looking for, contact us and we will let you know when we might have it, or who else to ask. We typically check litters for gender and make a preliminary guesses at color between 2 and 3 weeks. If you decide that you would like us to hold a particular hedgehog, let us know and we will hold it for up to 7 days with no deposit. If you would like us to hold it longer than 7 days, you must pay for it in full, including any shipping costs. This is not refundable but can be transferred to a different hedgehog. Babies are typically weaned and ready to ship when they are between 7 and 8 weeks old. If you would like to hold it for longer than that, it must be paid for in full and you need to let us know when you will pick up or have it shipped. If shipped, we must receive payment in full 10 days prior to the purchase of the health certificate and ship date. Once payments are received, they are nonrefundable so please do not ask us to reserve a hedgehog for you unless you are certain that it is what you want. We will contact you by email after we receive your deposit or payment, to let you know that it was received. If we do not hear from you within 7 days of our sending your confirmation, we will cancel your reservation with no notice to you. We hate to do this, but we have had problems with people asking us to hold a baby, and then we never hear from them again. It isn't fair to the people who are looking at that hedgehog, or to us, when people do that. As a result, we have had to get strict about this policy. SHIPPING: If you live within 100 miles of our facility in Iola, KS, we are able to offer courier service for $50. If you live outside of that range we are able to ship via Paws n Claws or Holm Small Animal Transport, for an added cost of $180 (shipping fee, health certificate, and shipping cage). We need to note that during movement from one home to another, whether shipped across the country or driven across town, animals can experience stress. If we think that a hedgehog is showing signs that it is not ready to handle this stress (growth delays, discolored poop, an injury or illness), we will ask that you be patient if we need to delay. We will assess the situation to determine what is be best for that particular hedgehog. We have the opportunity to take all hedgehogs for a health inspection prior to sale when. The cost is $20 per hedgehog and we need 10 days lead time to arrange this. If your hedgehog develops stress related problems, we ask that you contact us so that we can help you and your veterinarian as needed. We do not pay your veterinary bill, we are only able to replace (as described earlier in this document). We do everything we can to ensure that your animal is healthy prior to its departure, but you will need to take responsibility for any minor issues that arise in transit or shortly after arrival. Our six month guarantee, as stated above, does cover any hedgehogs that have major problems that we failed to detect. FOLLOW UP: We are available to answer any questions that you may have We want you and your hedgehog to be happy. Don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about your hedgehog! If there are any problems, please work with us to see if we can resolve them before you leave feedback. LINEAGE INFORMATION: We participate in The Hedgie List registry, as well as keeping our personal pedigree records. We provide the birthdate and parents' names with each hedgehog. FINAL NOTE: We reserve the right to refuse service for any reason we deem sufficient. We also reserve the right to cancel any transaction at any time, if we feel the reason is sufficient. If we cancel a transaction, we will refund any monies received minus a $20 nonrefundable deposit and any monies spent on the customer's behalf.
